KAFWiki:Style guide

Following the style guide is necessary so that all the pages look consistent. Our guidelines generally reflect those of Wikipedia's Manual of Style but we summarize the more important parts and note any differences here.

Page titles

• Titles should be singular, unless they refer to a set of things
  • If the page refers to a list of things, the title should start with List of
• Use sentence case for the page title unless the title consists of proper nouns
• The first letter of the title should be capitalized unless it's a special case (like eBay)

Body

• Headers in the article should use sentence case (Related links, and not Related Links)
• The first paragraph should be a general summary of the subject
• The first reference of the subject in the article, as well as any abbreviation near the beginning of the article, should be bolded
  • Example for an article about dogs: A dog is an animal.
  • If there are aliases, use this format: KAFC (also known as KAFChat, Bella's groupie, or insert another example)
  • This does not apply to pages in namespaces (Help:, KAFWiki:, etc.)
• Wikify (make links between articles) as many things as possible, but only do it for the first mention of that particular item
• Usernames should not be italicized. Usernames should never be linked (even if they are people like sk89q or Raisurinu). If the username does start with a capital letter but it begins at the beginning of a sentence, the first letter still should not be capitalized.

Templates

• If the article is a stub (it needs more content), {{stub}} should be placed at the end of the article
• Categories should be placed at the very end of the article

Things to remember

• KAF memes should be categorized under "Memes" (use [[Category:Memes]])
